Bernard Kamungo’s 88th-minute goal broke a late 1-1 deadlock Saturday night as FC Dallas defeated Western Conference rival Real Salt Lake, 2-1, in Frisco, T.X.

Dallas won despite being outshot 15-4.

Marco Farfan assisted on Kamungo’s marker, which was deposited into the top center of the net. Dallas’ Jesus Ferreira and Real Salt Lake’s Jefferson Savarino also netted goals in the contest.

Ferreira proved once again why he’s one of the MLS’ most promising young talents, breaking the scoreboard’s seal with a goal five minutes into the contest. Last week, Ferreira became the youngest player in league lore to net 40 career regular-season markers with the decider in a 1-0 win over Inter Miami CF.

Savarino’s made try evened matters for Real Salt Lake (2-5-0, 6 points) with his score in the 68th minute.

Real Salt Lake out-shot their hosts in the first half, 5-3. Only one of those five offerings was on target, however.

Carlos Gomez missed a longer-range shot three minutes prior to Ferreira’s score. Anderson Julio had a try blocked in the 11th minute and Jefferson Savarino pushed a shot to the right a minute later. Pablo Ruiz had another chance for Real Salt Lake in the 21st minute, but the offering sailed over the top left corner.

In the 29th minute, Gomez’ try from outside the box was saved by Dallas goalie Maarten Paes. Marcelo Silva’s header from the center of the box in the second minute of first-half stoppage time was blocked, leaving Real Salt Lake scoreless in the initial half.

Real Salt Lake had 11 more shots than their hosts in the loss.

Real Salt Lake had dropped four outings in a row before bucking that trend against Charlotte FC last week. They fell back into the loss column, as Dallas (4-2-2, 14 points) notched its second win in a row.
