Houston Dynamo attacker Nelson Quinones will miss the 2024 MLS season with a knee injury, the team announced on Wednesday.

Quinones, 21, sustained the injury playing for the U-23 Colombian national team at the recent 2024 CONMEBOL Pre-Olympic Tournament in Venezuela.

The Dynamo’s medical staff confirmed the extent of the injury for Quinones, who is expected to undergo surgery later this month.

Quinones recorded four goals and two assists in 28 MLS matches (19 starts) for Houston last season. The forward made his MLS debut with the Dynamo in 2022 and appeared as a substitute in eight matches.

Houston opens the 2024 MLS season on Feb. 24 at home against Sporting Kansas City.
