Djordje Mihailovic converted for two late-match goals as the Colorado Rapids defeated Charlotte FC 2-0 on Saturday in Commerce City, Colo.

Zack Steffen made three saves for his third clean sheet of the season for the Rapids (3-1-2, 11 points).

Mihailovic’s first goal came in the 77th minute. About four minutes later, he knocked in a penalty kick.

Charlotte (3-2-1, 10 points), which entered the day with its best five-match start in franchise history, surrendered 22 total shot attempts. Kristijan Kahlina stopped four shots.

The goals for Mihailovic were his first two tallies of the season.

Mihailovic’s first goal came on a shot inside the box off a pass from Omir Fernandez. The Rapids moved the ball up the left side and Mihailovic entered the box unmarked from the right.

The penalty kick came following a yellow card on Adilson Malanda for a foul in the penalty area.

The Rapids had some first-half push but couldn’t deliver a goal. In the final minutes of the half, Kahlina denied Mihailovic’s blast from outside the box.

Charlotte’s Patrick Agyemang fired a shot from much closer range in the second half with Steffen coming up with a highlight-worthy save to keep the score at 0-0.
