MLS: D.C. United D Brendan Hines-Ike (foot) out for season

D.C. United defender Brendan Hines-Ike will miss the remainder of the season after undergoing foot surgery, the team announced Friday.

Hines-Ike, 27, is expected to be sidelined for approximately 4 1/2 to six months following his operation to repair a Lisfranc injury on Thursday. Dr. Robert Anderson of Bellin Health Titletown Sports Medicine and Orthopedics performed the surgery.

Hines-Ike, who last played on Aug. 3, recorded one assist in 20 matches (all starts) this season. He is second in minutes played (1,685) on the team in 2022 behind fellow defender Steve Birnbaum.

Hines-Ike, a native of Denver, played for Orebro in Sweden for three seasons and Kortrijk in Belgium for three more before moving in 2021 to D.C. United, where he has 32 career starts.
