The Columbus Crew will be honored for their 2023 MLS Cup championship at the White House on Friday.

Their visit coincides with their road match Saturday at D.C. United.

Columbus also won the MLS Cup in 2020 but could not visit the White House because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Crew celebrated their 2008 MLS Cup at the White House the following summer — a trip that apparently doesn’t get old to ownership.

“The Columbus Crew are honored to participate in the special American tradition of celebrating our most recent league championship with the White House,” said Dee and Jimmy Haslam, Haslam Sports Group CEO and chairman/managing and principal partners, in a team statement. “Our Club, players and staff fully appreciate the unique opportunities we have to represent our supporters, the City of Columbus, Major League Soccer and our sport throughout the world, including through this memorable event.”

Columbus defeated the Los Angeles Football Club 2-1 last Dec. 9 to win the championship.
