MLS: Charlotte FC transfer Brecht Dejaegere to Belgian club

Charlotte FC transferred Brecht Dejaegere to top-flight club KV Kortrijk in his native Belgium on Friday.

The 33-year-old midfielder had two goals and two assists in 29 matches (17 starts) with Charlotte from 2023-24.

“Brecht was a top pro and respected teammate who dedicated himself to the success of our organization over the past year and we’re thankful for his contributions to Charlotte FC,” general manager Zoran Krneta said in a release.

“He’ll be returning to Belgium and the club that gave him his start in professional football, and we wish him nothing but success back home.”

Dejaegere joined the MLS club 13 months ago from France’s Toulouse FC and had occupied a designated player spot on the roster.
