Carles Gil scored on a penalty kick and had a decisive assist in a 4-0 win for the New England Revolution against CF Montreal on Saturday in Foxborough, Mass.

The Revolution (5-1-1, 16 points) are 3-0-1 in their past four games and remain unbeaten at home thus far (3-0-1).

Montreal (1-5-0, three points) was shut out for a second straight match and has yet to score a goal in five road contests this season.

The home side had several chances to score in the early going. In the fourth minute, Bobby Wood’s header attempt off a free kick by Gil went wide of the net. Two minutes later, another New England chance hit the left post. Gustavo Bou’s free kick sailed over the net in the seventh minute, and in the 11th, the striker’s attempt from outside the box was stopped by a diving Jonathan Sirois.

In the 15th minute, Dylan Borrero was prevented from streaking into the box as Sirois came off the line to the top of the box to snare the ball.

But Borrero would connect on another opportunity in the 21st minute, sending a right-footed shot from outside the box into the top right corner of the net, giving the Revolution a 1-0 lead.

Montreal had a rare chance of its own in the 25th minute. Mathieu Choiniere sent a cross over to Ilias Iliadis that was stopped, and the rebound went to Romell Quioto. However, Quioto’s shot attempt was saved by New England goalkeeper Djordje Petrovic.

Gil converted a penalty in the fourth minute of first-half stoppage time after video review confirmed a handball by Montreal’s Gabriele Corbo in the box. Gil took a stutter step from the spot before sending a shot right down the middle to make it 2-0.

Wood extended it to 3-0 in the 50th minute, settling a ball inside the box and connecting from just above the spot.

Giacomo Vrioni took a goal-kick pass from Petrovic just past the attacking side of midfield, settling it with his chest and bringing it above the arc before firing it into the left side of the net to cap the scoring in the 86th minute.
