New York Yankees reliever Scott Effross will be sidelined for an extended period with a Grade 2 left hamstring strain, manager Aaron Boone said Thursday.

The right-hander’s latest injury is “going to take some time” to heal before he can return to the mound, Boone told reporters in Tampa, Fla.

Effross, 31, was pulled from Tuesday’s spring training game against the Minnesota Twins after throwing one pitch in the eighth inning. He received a platelet-rich plasma (PRP) injection on Thursday.

He missed the entire 2023 season after Tommy John surgery and was limited to just three appearances in 2024 due to a back injury.

Effross is 3-5 with a 2.89 ERA and four saves in 77 games (one start) with the Chicago Cubs (2021-22) and Yankees (2022, 2024).
