The Yankees called up first base prospect Ben Rice to replace Anthony Rizzo, one of three players New York added to the injured list on Tuesday.

Ranked as the No. 12 prospect in the Yankees’ system by MLB Pipeline, Rice was a 12th-round draft pick in 2021 and could make his major league debut Tuesday night against the visiting Baltimore Orioles.

Rice, 25, is hitting .275 with 15 homers and 36 RBIs this season at two minor league levels. He is batting .333 with three home runs and 10 RBIs in 11 games since being promoted to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

Rizzo, 34, suffered a right forearm fracture in a collision with Boston Red Sox pitcher Brennan Bernadino on Sunday and is expected to miss four to six weeks. He is hitting .223 with eight homers and 28 RBIs this season in 70 games.

In 14 seasons with the San Diego Padres (2011), Chicago Cubs (2012-21) and Yankees, Rizzo is a .262 hitter with 303 homers and 958 RBIs in 1,705 games.

Rizzo went on the 10-day injured list and right-handers Ian Hamilton (right lat strain) and Cody Poteet (right triceps strain) landed on the 15-day IL. Hamilton’s move is retroactive to Monday and Poteet’s dates to Saturday.

Hamilton, 29, had an 0-1 record and a 4.55 ERA in 27 relief appearances in his second season with the Yankees. Poteet, 29, has made four starts in his first season in New York, amassing a 3-0 record and a 2.14 ERA.

In addition to Rice, the Yankees recalled left-hander Clayton Andrews from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre and also signed southpaw Anthony Misiewicz to a major league contract.

Later Tuesday, the Yankees transferred right-handed starter Clarke Schmidt to the 60-day injured list. Schmidt hasn’t pitched since May 26 due to a right lat strain.
