The New York Yankees appointed top prospect Jasson Dominguez as their 27th man for Sunday night’s Little League Classic game against the Detroit Tigers.

Dominguez will make his MLB season debut Sunday, batting fifth in the lineup and manning left field.

The Yankees and Tigers were granted a 27th man on the roster because of the special nature of the game. The Tigers reinstated outfielder Riley Greene from the 10-day injured list and added him as their 27th man for Sunday.

Dominguez, 21, is the No. 1 prospect in the Yankees’ farm system and the No. 17 overall prospect in the minor leagues, according to MLB Pipeline.

He made his MLB debut in September 2023 and went 8-for-31 (.258) with four home runs and seven RBIs in eight games with New York. But Dominguez suffered a torn ulnar collateral ligament (UCL) in his throwing elbow, underwent Tommy John surgery and was shut down for the year.

In 2024, Dominguez has split 40 games this season among Class-A Tampa, Double-A Somerset and Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. He has recorded seven homers and 24 RBIs with a .298 batting average.

Dominguez was available in part because he has less than a two-hour trip from Scranton to Williamsport, Pa., for the annual MLB regular-season game held at the Little League World Series.

Greene, 23, had been on the IL since July 26 with a hamstring strain. In his third MLB season, all with Detroit, Greene earned his first All-Star nod and is batting .264 with 17 homers and 51 RBIs in 101 games.
