The New York Yankees acquired infielder J.D. Davis and cash considerations from the Oakland Athletics on Sunday in exchange for infielder Jordan Groshans.

The Yankees transferred right-hander Nick Burdi to the 60-day injured list to open a spot for Davis on the 40-man roster.

Davis, 31, was designated for assignment on Tuesday after hitting .236 with four home runs and five RBIs in 39 games with Oakland this season.

In parts of eight seasons with the Houston Astros (2017-18), New York Mets (2019-22), San Francisco Giants (2022-23) and Athletics, Davis hit .259 with 72 homers and 220 RBIs in 633 games. He was a third-round draft pick of the Astros in 2014.

Groshans, 24, was a first-round pick of the Toronto Blue Jays in the 2018 draft (No. 12 overall) and made his major league debut with the Miami Marlins in 2022. In 17 career games, he hit .262 with one home run and two RBIs.

The Athletics also selected the contract of right-hander Aaron Brooks from Triple-A Las Vegas.
