Wilmer Flores hit a grand slam in the six-run third inning and the San Francisco Giants ended a six-game losing streak with a 9-3 win against the Arizona Diamondbacks in the finale of their three-game series on Wednesday afternoon in Phoenix.

Heliot Ramos and Jorge Soler also homered and Thairo Estrada had three hits and an RBI for the Giants, who avoided losing seven straight for the first time since Aug. 24-31, 2022.

Giants starter Jordan Hicks allowed two runs and six hits in 3 2/3 innings. He struck out seven and walked four in a game that had 15 combined walks and two hit batters.

Sean Hjelle (3-1) threw 1 1/3 innings of relief, followed by scoreless innings from Erik Miller, Ryan Walker, Tyler Rogers and Randy Rodriguez.

Arizona starter Jordan Montgomery (3-4) allowed six runs and seven hits in two-plus innings. He struck out one and walked three in his shortest outing since he was relieved in the first inning of a 5-2 loss to the Tampa Bay Rays on Sept. 2, 2020.

Pavin Smith had three hits, including a solo homer, and Blaze Alexander and Lourdes Gurriel Jr. had two hits each for Arizona, which was trying to win a season-high five in a row.

After the Diamondbacks took a 1-0 lead in the first inning on a two-out RBI single by Gurriel, the first eight batters reached base for San Francisco in the third, including two who homered.

Austin Slater led off with an opposite-field single to right before Ramos blasted a two-run homer over the fence in center to give San Francisco a 2-1 lead.

Estrada followed with a single to left, Matt Chapman walked on four pitches and Soler lined a single over Montgomery’s head to load the bases for Flores, who lifted a curveball over the fence in left for a 6-1 lead.

Mike Yastrzemski followed with another single, ending the day for Montgomery.

Hicks walked Joc Pederson with the bases loaded in the fourth to cut the lead to 6-2.

Smith homered to lead off the fifth inning and further trim the lead to 6-3.

The Giants could not capitalize on a bases-loaded, no-out situation in the sixth, but Soler blasted a solo homer in the eighth to extend the lead to 7-3.

San Francisco tacked on two more runs in the ninth on an RBI double by Estrada and a sacrifice fly by Flores to make it 9-3.
