The Chicago White Sox placed right-hander Mike Clevinger on the 15-day injured list with right elbow inflammation, while right-hander Jake Woodford had his contract purchased from Triple-A Charlotte.

To make room on the 40-man roster for Woodford, who was inserted to start Tuesday against the Toronto Blue Jays, left-hander Sammy Peralta was designated for assignment.

Clevinger, 33, is 0-3 with a 6.75 ERA in four starts with the White Sox this season after he signed as a free agent on April 4. He had 24 starts for Chicago last season, going 9-9 with a 3.77 ERA.

In eight seasons with the Cleveland Guardians (2016-20), San Diego Padres (2020-22) and White Sox, Clevinger is 60-42 with a 3.51 ERA in 156 appearances (142 starts).

Woodford, 27, pitched in each of the previous four seasons with the St. Louis Cardinals, going 10-7 with a 4.29 ERA in 80 appearances (18 starts). He was 1-3 with a 5.26 ERA in 10 starts for Charlotte this season.
