Tommy Henry tossed seven strong innings for his first major league victory and Jake McCarthy drove in three runs as the Arizona Diamondbacks beat the Pittsburgh Pirates 6-4 on Tuesday in Phoenix.

Ketel Marte had two RBIs while Christian Walker had three hits and drove in a run for Arizona, which led 2-1 before sending nine batters to the plate during a four-run seventh inning. The D-backs won for the fifth time in their last seven games.

Henry (1-1) allowed one run on four hits with two walks and three strikeouts in his home debut and second career start. Mark Melancon worked around a two-out walk in the ninth for his 16th save.

Michael Chavis homered twice and had three RBIs for Pittsburgh, which has lost 11 of its last 15 games. Oneil Cruz and Ke’Bryan Hayes had two hits apiece.

The Diamondbacks took an early lead with a run in the first inning against Pirates starter Zach Thompson (3-9).

After Josh Rojas hit a leadoff double, Alek Thomas walked and Marte grounded into a fielder’s choice. Rojas then scored from third on Walker’s single to right field.

Arizona tacked on another run in the third when Walker doubled with one out, moved to third on Daulton Varsho’s flyout, and scored on McCarthy’s infield single.

Thompson yielded two runs on five hits over 4 2/3 innings. He walked three and struck out two.

Chavis cut the lead in half with a two-out, solo homer in the sixth before Arizona responded with four runs in the seventh against Duane Underwood Jr.

After Marte singled in two runs with one out, Walker singled and Varsho walked before McCarthy delivered a two-run single.

Pittsburgh cut into the lead with three runs in the eighth against Chris Devenski. Ben Gamel doubled in a run with two outs and Chavis followed with a 424-foot blast to left field, his 12th of the season.

The D-backs improved to 21-6 in their last 27 games against the Pirates, including a 9-2 mark at Chase Field during that span. They opened the four-game series with a 3-0 victory on Monday.
