The Detroit Tigers placed outfielder Wenceel Perez on the 10-day injured list Saturday with a left oblique strain and recalled outfielder Akil Baddoo from Triple-A Toledo.

Perez left Friday’s 3-2 loss to the San Francisco Giants in the fourth inning with side discomfort. The 24-year-old rookie is batting .242 with nine home runs and 32 RBIs in 97 games this season.

Baddoo, 25, struggled in 26 games with the Tigers this season, batting .117 with two home runs and four RBIs. He was batting .256 with seven home runs and 28 RBIs in 56 games at Toledo.

In four major league seasons for the Tigers, Baddoo is a career .226 hitter with 28 home runs and 102 RBIs in 335 games.
