Catcher Victor Caratini agreed to a two-year, $12 million contract with the Houston Astros, multiple media outlets reported.

The deal, which is pending a physical, has yet to be announced by the Astros.

Caratini is expected to serve as the primary backup to Yainer Diaz, which would leave Martin Maldonado as the odd man out behind the plate for Houston.

Caratini, 30, batted .259 with seven homers and 25 RBIs in 62 games last season with the Milwaukee Brewers.

He is a career .236 hitter with 38 homers and 171 RBIs in 519 games with the Chicago Cubs (2017-20), San Diego Padres (2021) and Brewers (2022-23).
