MLB: Report: Giants designate INF Tommy La Stella

The San Francisco Giants designated infielder Tommy La Stella for assignment on Wednesday, NBC Sports Bay Area reported, leaving the club on the hook for $11.5 million for the final year of his three-year deal.

La Stella, 33, batted .239 with two home runs and 14 RBIs over 60 games with the Giants last season and he was a .245 hitter with nine home runs and 41 RBIs in his two seasons (136 games) in San Francisco.

A veteran of nine seasons, La Stella is a .267 career hitter with a .337 on-base percentage with 40 home runs and 204 RBIs in 667 games for the Atlanta Braves (2014), Chicago Cubs (2015-18), Los Angeles Angels (2019-20), Oakland Athletics (2020) and Giants. He was an All-Star in 2019 for the Angels.
