The Boston Red Sox placed right-handed reliever Isaiah Campbell on the 15-day injured list on Friday because of a right shoulder impingement.

In a corresponding move, the Red Sox recalled infielder Bobby Dalbec from Triple-A Worcester.

Campbell, 26, had pitched well in his first five appearances, sporting a 2.08 ERA before getting shelled in two home games against Baltimore on Wednesday and Thursday. The Orioles won both games as Campbell (0-1) allowed a combined nine runs (eight earned) and eight hits in two innings as his ERA ballooned to 12.79 for 6 1/3 total innings this season.

He’s in his first year in Boston after making his debut in the majors in 2023 for Seattle, where he went 4-1 with a 2.83 ERA, 13 walks and 33 strikeouts in 28 2/3 innings over 27 relief appearances.

Dalbec, 28, plays first and third base, so he could help fill in for All-Star third baseman Rafael Devers, who was expected to miss his second consecutive game Friday against the Los Angeles Angels with a nagging left shoulder injury. Infielder Romy Gonzalez also is ailing with a sore wrist.

Boston manager Alex Cora said there is a “good chance” Devers could start on Saturday against the Angels.

“I’ve been feeling it since spring training,” Devers said Friday. “But every time I was swinging, I was feeling it a little bit more and more. So for me, I think like two or three days (off) could be enough. I hope it doesn’t keep bothering me after these two or three days, but that’s something I can’t control. That’s why I’m just trying to keep working to get stronger, to get my shoulder back in a good way.”

Dalbec has played in six Red Sox games this season, and for his career, he is a .228 hitter with 46 home runs and 134 RBIs in 300 games since 2020.
