Boston Red Sox hitting coach Tim Hyers has declined the team’s offer to return for the 2022 season, multiple outlets reported Monday.

Hyers, 50, chose to explore opportunities with other clubs after four seasons, per the reports.

The Red Sox have promoted Peter Fatse to replace Hyers, the Boston Herald reported. Fatse is 34 years old.

Under Hyers’ guidance, the Red Sox have been an offensive juggernaut, leading the major leagues in a number of offensive categories, including runs per game.

Hyers also was the hitting coach for the Los Angeles Dodgers in 2016-17.

Hyers is the second Red Sox coach that will not return next season. The club previously announced first base coach Tom Goodwin would not be back.
