The Tampa Bay Rays reinstated catcher Ben Rortvedt from the family emergency list in advance of a road game against the Los Angeles Dodgers on Saturday, while catcher Rob Brantly was designated for assignment.

Rortvedt originally was on the paternity list then switched to the family emergency list to have more time away following the birth of his child.

Rortvedt, 26, was batting .247 with three home runs and 28 RBIs in 87 games this season. In three career seasons with the Minnesota Twins (2021), New York Yankees (2023) and Rays, he is a career .206 hitter with eight home runs and 39 RBIs in 158 games.

Brantly, 35, was 1-for-9 in three games while Rortvedt was away. Over nine major league seasons for six different clubs, Brantly is a career .222 hitter with seven home runs and 37 RBIs in 137 games.
