MLB: Rays place reliever Ryan Thompson (lat strain) on IL

The Tampa Bay Rays placed reliever Ryan Thompson on the 15-day injured list Saturday with a right lat strain.

The 30-year-old right-hander is 1-0 with a 3.18 ERA in six appearances out of the bullpen this season.

Thompson is 8-7 with a 3.48 ERA and four saves in 114 games (one start) since making his Rays debut in 2020.

Tampa Bay recalled right-hander Trevor Kelley from Triple-A Durham in a corresponding transaction.

Kelley, 30, has no decisions and a 5.79 ERA in five relief appearances this season with Durham.
