A quick end to Major League Baseball’s two league championship series would result in an earlier start to the World Series.

MLB said Sunday that should both the American and National League wrap up the championship rounds by Saturday, the World Series will open Oct. 22, with a potential Game 7 being played Oct. 30.

For the World Series to move to the earlier date, both the best-of-seven ALCS and NLCS would need to end within five games.

If either series extends beyond five games, the World Series will start Oct. 25, with Game 7, if needed, set to be played Nov. 2.

The NLCS begins Sunday night with the New York Mets at the Los Angeles Dodgers.

The ALCS starts Monday night with the Cleveland Guardians visiting the New York Yankees.

The FOX networks will televise the NLCS, with coverage of the ALCS on TBS.
