MLB: Pirates sign LHP Justin Bruihl to major league roster

The Pittsburgh Pirates signed left-handed reliever Justin Bruihl and added him to the bullpen in advance of Thursday’s game against his former team, the Los Angeles Dodgers.

In corresponding moves, right-hander Quinn Priester was placed on the 15-day injured list, retroactive to Monday, with a right lat injury. Left-hander Ryan Borucki (wrist) was moved to the 60-day IL

Bruihl, 26, pitched in 19 games for the Cincinnati Reds’ Triple-A affiliate at Louisville this season, going 4-0 with a 2.31 ERA before he was released this week.

In 72 career MLB appearances (two starts), Bruihl is 2-2 with a 4.22 ERA for the Los Angeles Dodgers (2021-23) and Colorado Rockies (2023).

Priester, 23, was 0-5 with a 4.83 ERA in six starts this season. He is 3-3 with a 6.61 ERA in 16 career appearances (14 starts) over the past two seasons for the Pirates.
