Pittsburgh Pirates outfielder Bryan Reynolds was scratched from the starting lineup for Wednesday afternoon’s game against the visiting St. Louis Cardinals due to back spasms.

Per the Pirates, Reynolds is being examined and treated by the team’s medical staff. He is considered day-to-day.

Reynolds, 29, has yet to miss a game this season for Pittsburgh, which is idle Thursday and visits the Arizona Diamondbacks on Friday in the opener of a three-game series in Phoenix.

Connor Joe, Michael A. Taylor and Joshua Palacios will man the outfield on Wednesday for the Pirates.

Reynolds leads the team in batting average (.288), hits (117), homers (18) and RBIs (61).

A two-time All-Star, Reynolds is a career .279 hitter with 116 homers and 384 RBIs in 739 career games with the Pirates.
