MLB: Phillies score twice in ninth for comeback win over Orioles

Alec Bohm hit a walk-off RBI single to left field as the host Philadelphia Phillies scored twice in the ninth inning to defeat the Baltimore Orioles 4-3 on Tuesday.

Bryce Harper hit a solo home run and a single while Bryson Stott added an RBI double in the ninth to tie the game at 3.

Johan Rojas added an RBI single for the Phillies.

Phillies starter Taijuan Walker tossed 5 2/3 innings and allowed six hits and two runs with four strikeouts and three walks. Yunior Marte (1-1) earned the win by pitching 1 2/3 scoreless innings.

Ryan O’Hearn hit a go-ahead solo home run in the eighth inning for the Orioles. Ryan Mountcastle added two hits, two walks and two runs and Adam Frazier had a single, a double and an RBI.

Austin Hays contributed an RBI double for the Orioles, who had won five of six.

Orioles starter Kyle Gibson gave up four hits and two runs with five strikeouts and no walks in six innings. Shintaro Fujinami threw two scoreless innings with three strikeouts in relief before Yennier Cano (1-2) took the loss.

Baltimore took a 3-2 lead in the eighth inning when O’Hearn crushed a solo home run to right-center field off Matt Strahm.

In the ninth, Trea Turner grounded out, Harper singled and Nick Castellanos struck out on a changeup. Stott followed with an RBI double to score Harper from first base with the tying run before Bohm’s hit brought Stott home.

The Orioles went ahead 1-0 in the second when Hays ripped an RBI double to left. After loading the bases with no outs, Walker was able to wriggle out of further trouble.

In the third, Frazier ripped an RBI double down the right field line. Frazier was thrown out trying to stretch the play into a triple.

The Phillies sliced the deficit to 2-1 in the bottom of the third when Rojas lined an RBI single to center.

Strahm replaced Walker with two outs in the sixth and struck out Colton Cowser with a runner on first.

Harper laced a solo homer to right center in the sixth to equalize at 2. It was Harper’s fifth homer of the season.
