Seeking a new “energy,” Philadelphia Phillies manager Rob Thomson will sit slump-ridden All-Star Alec Bohm for Game 2 of the National League Division Series against the New York Mets on Sunday.

Edmundo Sosa will take over at third base and bat eighth Sunday in place of Bohm, who hit .170 in September after his return from the injured list (left hand strain).

In Saturday’s Game 1 loss to the Mets, Bohm was 0-for-4. He is just 2-for-31 batting since a four-hit night in a 12-2 win over the Mets on Sept. 20.

“I want to get some energy in the lineup. With Sosa. He is kind of our energy guy,” Thomson said. “Bohmer, he is not swinging the bat particularly well, but he’s not the only one. He’s frustrated.”

Thomson said he told Bohm to be ready to pinch-hit on Sunday and expects him to play in Game 3 in New York against left-hander Sean Manaea, the Mets’ scheduled starter.

On the season, Bohm is hitting .280 with 15 homers and 97 RBIs in 143 games. The 28-year-old was selected to his first All-Star Game this season.

Sosa, 28, appeared in 90 games this season and hit .257 with seven home runs and a career-high 31 RBIs.
