The San Diego Padres placed second baseman Xander Bogaerts on the 10-day injured list Wednesday with a fractured left shoulder.

The four-time All-Star sustained the injury when he dove to reach a ground ball in the third inning in the opening game of Monday’s doubleheader against the Atlanta Braves.

The Padres said Bogaerts, 31, did not suffer a labrum tear and does not require surgery at this time. The bone needs time to heal, but Bogaerts hopes to return to the lineup by late summer.

Bogaerts is batting .219 with four homers and 14 RBIs in 47 games this season, his second with San Diego following 10 seasons with the Boston Red Sox.

Bogaerts is a lifetime .289 hitter with 179 home runs and 755 RBIs in 1,466 games since making his debut with the Red Sox in 2013.

In corresponding moves, the Padres selected the contract of veteran outfielder David Peralta and transferred right-hander Luis Patino (elbow) to the 60-day injured list.

Peralta, 36, signed with San Diego earlier this month. He is a career .279 hitter with 117 home runs and 541 RBIs in 1,141 games with the Arizona Diamondbacks (2014-22), Tampa Bay Rays (2022) and Los Angeles Dodgers (2023).
