San Diego Padres starting pitcher Joe Musgrove will make his season debut on Saturday against the Arizona Diamondbacks, manager Bob Melvin said Tuesday.

The right-hander dropped a kettlebell and fractured his left big toe in a weight room accident back in February.

The Padres will push Saturday’s scheduled starter, Yu Darvish, back to Sunday.

Musgrove went 10-7 with a 2.93 ERA in 30 starts last season, his second in San Diego. He was named an All-Star for the first time. He has a career 50-54 record with a 3.79 ERA in 170 career games (144 starts) in seven major league seasons.

The Padres are also anticipating the return of star shortstop Fernando Tatis Jr. on Thursday at the conclusion of his 80-game suspension for testing positive for a performance-enhancing substance.
