The Washington Nationals reinstated Lane Thomas from the 10-day injured list on Monday and designated fellow outfielder Victor Robles for assignment.
Thomas missed a month with an MCL sprain in his left knee. He was injured stealing second base in an April 23 game against the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Thomas, 28, is batting .184 with two homers, 10 RBIs and 11 stolen bases in 22 games this season.
He is a career .247 hitter with 59 home runs, 190 RBIs and 46 steals in 453 games with the Cardinals (2019-21) and Nationals, who acquired Thomas in the July 2021 trade that sent left-hander Jon Lester to St. Louis.
Robles, who turned 27 last week, is batting just .120 with three runs and four stolen bases in 14 games this season.
He hit .299 in 36 games last season and is a career .236 hitter with 31 home runs, 156 RBIs and 70 steals in parts of eight seasons with Washington. He finished sixth in the National League Rookie of the Year voting in 2019.
