Mike Trout hit a tiebreaking two-run homer with two outs in the top of the 10th inning as the Los Angeles Angels defeated the host Seattle Mariners 4-2 Saturday afternoon in the opening game of a doubleheader.

It was Trout’s third homer in the first three games of the series and the 50th of his career against the Mariners.

With a runner at second to open the inning, Mariners right-hander Diego Castillo (3-1) retired the first two batters before Trout hit a 1-1 pitch at the bottom of the strike zone over the center-field wall.

Angels closer Raisel Iglesias (2-4) got the victory, and left-hander Jose Quijada worked the 10th for his first save of the season.

The Mariners opened the scoring as Dylan Moore led off the bottom of the third with a home run to left field, his third of the season.

The Angels responded in the top of the fourth. With two outs, Matt Duffy lined a single to right and Brandon Marsh walked. Kurt Suzuki hit a sinking liner to left just out of the reach of a diving Moore, with both runners scoring on the double.

The Mariners tied the score in the seventh. Moore was hit by a pitch from reliever Aaron Loup and stole second. Abraham Toro lined a single to left, with Moore stopping at third. An out later, rookie Julio Rodriguez greeted reliever Archie Bradley with a run-scoring single to right, with Toro taking third.

Bradley rebounded to strike out Ty France and get J.P. Crawford to ground out to end the inning.

Angels starter Patrick Sandoval went six innings and gave up one run on four hits. The left-hander walked two and struck out five.

Seattle right-hander Chris Flexen pitched 5 1/3 innings and allowed two runs on six hits. He also walked two and fanned five.
