The Miami Marlins got back two pieces to their starting lineup on Monday, in addition to receiving a timetable update to one of the team’s starting pitchers.

Center fielder Jazz Chisholm Jr. was activated from the injured list after missing over a month, while infielder Jean Segura was also reinstated after a short stint on the IL.

In related transactions, the Marlins sent both infielder Jacob Amaya and infielder/outfielder Garrett Hampson to Triple-A Jacksonville. Separately, the team also claimed right-hander Eli Villalobos, originally drafted by Miami, off waivers from the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Earlier Monday, the Miami Herald reported that left-hander Trevor Rogers will remain sidelined at least through the All-Star break due to a partial tear in his right lat.

Chisholm, 25, has not played since suffering a turf toe injury while trying to catch a sinking liner on May 13 at home against the Cincinnati Reds. His original timeline estimated he’d be sidelined for four to six weeks.

Making the position switch from second base to center field this season, the 2022 All-Star has hit .229 with seven home runs, 16 RBIs and 14 stolen bases in 39 games this season. In his four-game rehab stint at Jacksonville, Chisholm went 3-for-12 with a double and three RBIs.

Segura, 33, last played on June 14 and has been on the IL since June 17 with a hamstring injury. The two-time All-Star also changed positions this offseason, playing exclusively at third base after starting mostly at second for the Philadelphia Phillies last season.

Segura has hit just .190 with one homer and 11 RBIs in 60 games thus far.

Rogers, 25, landed on the 15-day injured list with a left biceps strain on April 21 and was transferred to the 60-day IL on June 13 after an MRI revealed the unusual injury to his right lat.

“All the doctors are like, ‘You’re the first guy I’ve ever seen with a non-throwing shoulder lat injury like this,'” Rogers said, per the Miami Herald. “I’m like, ‘Well, the pleasure’s all mine.’ It’s just one of those things that I can’t explain it. It’s unfortunate.”

Rogers, who last pitched for the Marlins on April 19, said he does not think surgery will be necessary to repair the damage.

“Where the injury was located, there’s so much blood flow to the area that the body can naturally heal itself,” he said. “I was thankful to hear that. It was kind of scary when you hear that it’s torn. Thankfully, it was in a good spot.”

Rogers made four starts before the injury, going 1-2 with a 4.00 ERA and 19 strikeouts in 18 innings.

The 2021 All-Star is 13-23 with a 4.12 ERA in 59 career starts since making his major league debut with the Marlins in 2020. Miami selected him with the 13th overall pick in the 2017 draft.

Villalobos rejoined the Marlins Monday on his 26th birthday after having been claimed by Pittsburgh two months ago. A 14th-round pick by Miami in 2018, he has not yet reached the majors and has struggled with control this season in Triple-A for both organizations — walking 22 in 22 innings with a combined 5.73 ERA at Jacksonville (three appearances) and Indianapolis (16 games) this season.
