MLB: Mariners claim RHP Kaleb Ort off waivers from Red Sox

The Seattle Mariners claimed right-hander Kaleb Ort off waivers from the Boston Red Sox on Friday.

The Mariners designated catcher Brian O’Keefe for assignment to make room on their 40-man roster.

Ort, 31, went 1-2 with a 6.26 ERA in 21 games (two starts) for the Red Sox in 2023.

He is 2-4 with one save and a 6.27 ERA in 47 games (two starts) over parts of three seasons in Boston.

O’Keefe, 30, made his MLB debut with Seattle in 2022. He hit .105 with two RBIs in eight games this season.
