J.P. Crawford hit a grand slam and Bryce Miller pitched six scoreless innings as the Seattle Mariners defeated the visiting Los Angeles Angels 9-0 on Saturday.

Luke Raley also homered and Julio Rodriguez went 3-for-4 with two RBIs for the American League West-leading Mariners, who won for the sixth time in their past seven games.

The highlight for the last-place Angels, who have lost seven of eight, was backup infielder Cole Tucker pitching a scoreless inning of relief.

Miller (5-5) allowed three hits, walked one and struck out nine, one shy of his career-high.

The only hits Miller allowed were leadoff singles by Luis Rengifo and Willie Calhoun in the first and second innings, respectively, and a two-out double by Mickey Moniak in the third.

The Mariners opened the scoring in the third inning as rookie Ryan Bliss drew a leadoff walk from Angels starter Reid Detmers (3-6), stole second and third and scored on Rodriguez’s two-out single to left.

In the fourth, Mitch Haniger lined a one-out single to center. Two-out walks to Raley and Bliss loaded the bases for Crawford, who hit a hanging curveball on a 2-2 count from Detmers just over the wall in right field.

That was it for Detmers, who lost his sixth straight decision. The left-hander allowed five runs on four hits in 3 2/3 innings, with four walks and three strikeouts.

Raley led off the bottom of the sixth with a homer to deep left-center field off Carson Fulmer. Bliss lined a single to center for his first major league hit. After Crawford flied out to center, Roansy Contreras hit Dylan Moore with a pitch. Rodriguez blooped a single to center to score Bliss, and Cal Raleigh lined a two-run double into the right field corner to make it 9-0.

Angels first baseman Nolan Schanuel was out of the starting lineup for the second consecutive day with a sore left thumb.
