David Fry delivered a go-ahead RBI single in the sixth inning and the host Cleveland Guardians went on for a 4-2 victory over the Milwaukee Brewers on Saturday.

Fry joined Jose Ramirez in recording two hits to send the Guardians to their fifth win in their last six games.

Cleveland’s Steven Kwan singled in the fourth inning to extend his hitting streak to eight games. Josh Naylor and Andres Gimenez each added an RBI single for the Guardians.

The offense was just enough for rookie Tanner Bibee (4-2), who allowed two runs (one earned) on three hits and struck out seven in six innings. Bibee walked four.

Eli Morgan retired the side in order in the seventh inning and Trevor Stephan did the same in the eighth, striking out two batters in the process. Emmanuel Clase also fanned two batters in the ninth en route to securing his 23rd save of the season.

William Contreras had an RBI single and Christian Yelich scored twice for the Brewers, who have lost three of their last five games.

Amed Rosario and Ramirez each singled to lead off the sixth inning and drive Freddy Peralta (5-7) from the game. Naylor’s single to left field off Hoby Milner plated Rosario to forge a 2-2 tie before Fry greeted Elvis Peguero with a single to left that scored Ramirez.

Cleveland tacked on an insurance run in the eighth. Josh Bell doubled to lead off the inning before being replaced by pinch runner Tyler Freeman, who scored on an error by Yelich on Gimenez’s single.

Peralta fell to 0-4 in his last six outings after permitting three runs on four hits in five innings. He struck out five.

Milwaukee opened the scoring in the first inning after Yelich reached on an infield single, advanced to second base on a wild pitch from Bibee and came around to score after Fry dropped a liner in right field. Fry was charged with an error on the play.

The Brewers doubled their advantage in the third after Yelich worked a one-out walk, stole second and scored on Contreras’ single to right field.

Kwan scored on a double-play ball to halve the deficit in the fourth inning.
