Cleveland Guardians right-hander Tanner Bibee will not make his scheduled start Saturday against the Baltimore Orioles because of a sore right shoulder, manager Stephen Vogt said Thursday.

Rookie left-hander Joey Cantillo is expected to start in Bibee’s place for the Guardians, in first place in the American League Central.

Bibee, 25, gave up two runs on seven hits over six innings in a win against the Detroit Tigers on Monday when he improved to 9-4 with a 3.48 ERA. Since making his major league debut last season, he is 19-8 with a 3.21 ERA in 47 starts.

Cantillo, 24, made his major league debut Sunday when he gave up three runs on four hits over 3 1/3 innings in a no-decision against the Philadelphia Phillies. Cantillo was acquired from the Padres in 2020 as part of the package that sent right-hander Mike Clevinger to San Diego.
