MLB: Giants reinstate SS Nick Ahmed from injured list

The San Francisco Giants reinstated shortstop Nick Ahmed from the 10-day injured list on Friday.

He has been sidelined since being struck on the left wrist by a 108-mph line drive on May 9 at Colorado.

Ahmed, 34, is batting .236 with four doubles and 11 RBIs in 36 games in his first season with the Giants.

The two-time Gold Glove winner is a career .234 hitter with 70 homers and 333 RBIs in 924 games with the Arizona Diamondbacks (2014-23) and Giants.

San Francisco optioned infielder Casey Schmitt to Triple-A Sacramento on Thursday. The Giants also reinstated infielder Marco Luciano from the 10-day IL on Thursday and optioned him to Sacramento.
