Arizona Diamondbacks right-hander Drey Jameson was moved to the 60-day injured list on Saturday amid fears he damaged the ulnar collateral ligament in his pitching elbow during Thursday’s relief outing against the New York Mets.

Jameson was injured during the three-inning appearance — he reportedly threw 12 pitches after the injury — and initially was placed on the 15-day IL on Friday.

But concern has ramped up less than 48 hours since the injury and Tommy John reconstruction surgery is one of the possibilities. The Diamondbacks plan to have Jameson undergo further tests.

“We are continuing to gather information. We are getting second opinions,” Arizona manager Torey Lovullo told reporters before Saturday’s game against the Pittsburgh Pirates. “He is on the IL and we are talking more than a couple of weeks.

“There is stuff there that needs to be looked at, and thoroughly looked at before we can make a firm judgment. There is something in there, something is going on.”

Jameson, 25, is 3-1 with a 3.32 ERA in 15 appearances (three starts) this season.

Arizona also recalled left-hander Tyler Gilbert from Triple-A Reno on Saturday. Outfielder Kyle Lewis was sent to Reno following Friday’s game to clear a roster spot.

Gilbert, 29, went 2-5 with a 4.12 ERA in 17 games (13 appearances) over the past two seasons with Arizona, including a no-hitter in his first career start in 2021. He has only pitched for Reno this season.

Lewis, 27, was batting .182 with one homer and two RBIs in 11 games with Arizona. He was American League Rookie of the Year with the Seattle Mariners in 2020.
