MLB: D-backs recall OF Cooper Hummel

The Arizona Diamondbacks recalled outfielder Cooper Hummel on Tuesday.

He takes the roster spot of catcher Jose Herrera, who was optioned to Triple-A Reno after Monday night’s game.

Hummel, 27, is batting just .171 with two home runs, 11 RBIs and 14 runs in 50 games with the Diamondbacks in his rookie season.

However, he’s hitting .310 with six homers and an OPS of .950 in 33 games at Reno.

Herrera, 25, was batting .189 with five RBIs in 47 games in his rookie season with Arizona.
