Michael Tauchman singled in the go-ahead run to ignite a five-run 10th inning as the visiting Chicago Cubs snapped a five-game losing streak with a 6-3 victory over the Milwaukee Brewers on Tuesday night.

Tauchman opened the 10th with a scorching liner that hit pitcher Trevor Megill (0-1), who relieved to start the inning. Megill was unable to field the carom, allowing pinch runner Luis Vazquez to score from second.

Hoby Milner came on for the injured Megill and Seiya Suzuki blooped a single, sending Tauchman to third. Cody Bellinger followed with an RBI single to center to make it 3-1. Nick Madrigal sacrificed the runners ahead and Ian Happ delivered a two-run double to right. Michael Busch added an RBI single.

The Brewers answered with two runs in the bottom half on Sal Frelick’s RBI groundout and an RBI single by Owen Miller.

Milwaukee, held to one hit through 8 2/3 innings, tied it 1-1 on Willy Adames’ two-out RBI single in the ninth inning off Hector Neris (5-0). Christian Yelich walked with two outs and advanced on a balk. Yelich scored before Adames was thrown out at second trying for a double.

Cubs rookie Ben Brown tossed seven hitless innings, allowing just two fifth-inning walks, before being lifted after 93 pitches. The 24-year-old right-hander struck out a career-high 10.

Frelick broke up the Cubs’ no-hit bid with a one-out single off Hayden Wesneski in the eighth.

The Cubs loaded the bases in the top of the ninth on three walks by Elvis Peguero but failed to score when Miguel Amaya struck out to end the inning.

Busch staked the Cubs to a 1-0 lead against starter Freddy Peralta, opening the third inning with his eighth homer. Peralta allowed one run on three hits in 5 2/3 innings. He struck out 11 and walked two in a 111-pitch outing.
