The Chicago Cubs placed right-hander Marcus Stroman on the 15-day injured list on Wednesday due to right hip inflammation.

The move is retroactive to Tuesday.

Stroman struggled during Monday’s start against the Cincinnati Reds when he gave up six runs and six hits over three innings during a 6-5 loss.

Over his last three outings, the 32-year-old has allowed 17 runs and 22 hits in just 10 innings.

Overall, Stroman is 10-8 with a 3.85 ERA in 23 starts this season, his second with the Cubs.

Stroman, a two-time All-Star, had a 2.28 ERA after a start on June 20 before his season went downhill.

Chicago activated right-hander Jose Cuas to the active roster in a corresponding move. Cuas was acquired from the Kansas City Royals on Monday.

Cuas, 29, was 3-0 with a 4.54 ERA in 45 appearances (one start) with the Royals this season. He struck out 52 in 41 2/3 innings.
