Corbin Carroll delivered a walk-off single in the 10th inning to lift the Arizona Diamondbacks to a 3-2 win against the Pittsburgh Pirates on Saturday afternoon in the second game of a three-game series in Phoenix.

Alek Thomas homered for the Diamondbacks, who ended a four-game losing streak in the series opener on Friday night.

Kyle Nelson started the bullpen game for Arizona and threw 1 1/3 hitless innings with three strikeouts. Six relievers then combined to hold the Pirates to two runs (one earned) and four hits over the next 8 2/3 innings.

Mitch Keller allowed one hit over seven shutout innings. He struck out four and walked five for the Pirates, who have lost four in a row and seven of eight.

David Bednar (3-1) came back out for the 10th after pitching a scoreless ninth and was tagged with the loss.

Pittsburgh took a 2-1 lead into the home 10th.

Jake McCarthy laid down a bunt to start the inning and Bednar’s throw got away from Nick Gonzales covering the first base bag, putting runners on the corners. Pirates first baseman Carlos Santana made a diving stop on a ground ball by Thomas, but nobody covered the first base bag, plating the automatic runner and putting runners on first and second.

Geraldo Perdomo then sacrificed the runners over and Ketel Marte was walked intentionally to load the bases for Corbin, who delivered the game-winner into right on a 2-2 pitch.

The Pirates took a 1-0 lead in the sixth after Jason Delay walked to lead off the inning. He moved to second with two outs and scored on a ground-rule double to right-center field by Jack Suwinski.

Colin Holderman relieved Keller to start the eighth inning and Thomas lined his second pitch over the fence in right field to tie the score at 1-1.

Scott McGough (1-6) came back out for the 10th for Arizona after striking out the side in the ninth and gave up a leadoff single to Ji Man Choi to put runners on the corners.

After Gonzales was caught looking, Jared Triolo slapped a single into right field for a 2-1 lead.

Arizona first baseman Christian Walker made a diving stop on a grounder down the line by Josh Palacios to save two runs and end the inning.
