MLB: Cardinals sign RHP Phil Maton to one-year deal

Right-hander Phil Maton signed a one-year deal with the St. Louis Cardinals on Thursday.

Maton, 31, finished last season with the Mets following a deadline deal with the Tampa Bay Rays and did not allow a run in 25 of his 31 appearances with New York.

Overall he was 3-3 with a 3.66 ERA with the Mets and Rays in 2024 and made six playoff appearances.

He has a 4.16 career ERA and is 19-15 in eight previous MLB seasons with the San Diego Padres, Cleveland franchise, Rays and Mets.
