MLB: Cardinals place OF Lars Nootbaar (oblique) on injured list

The St. Louis Cardinals placed outfielder Lars Nootbaar on the 10-day injured list Friday with an oblique strain.

Nootbaar, 26, is batting .234 with five homers and 19 RBIs in 39 games while playing all three outfield spots.

He is a career .244 hitter with 38 home runs and 120 RBIs in 322 games since making his St. Louis debut in 2021.

The Cardinals recalled infielder Jose Fermin from Triple-A Memphis in a corresponding transaction.

Fermin, 25, is hitting .200 (3-for-15) with one stolen base in nine appearances with St. Louis this season.
