The Milwaukee Brewers placed left-handed closer Josh Hader on the paternity list shortly before Wednesday night’s road game against the New York Mets.

Hader, 28, can take three days of leave, per Major League Baseball policy.

Hader entered the day with 19 saves, tied for the MLB lead with Taylor Rogers of the San Diego Padres.

The three-time All-Star is 0-1 with a 0.92 ERA in 21 appearances this season. He has struck out 33 and given up just six hits and six walks in 19 2/3 innings.

Milwaukee activated right-hander Chi Chi Gonzalez in a corresponding move. The Brewers claimed Gonzalez off waivers Tuesday. Gonzalez was designated for assignment by the Minnesota Twins on Saturday.

Gonzalez, 30, had a 7.71 ERA in two starts with Minnesota. Overall, he is 9-23 with a 5.69 ERA in 63 career appearances (49 starts) with the Texas Rangers (2015-16), Colorado Rockies (2019-21) and Twins.
