Milwaukee Brewers third baseman Joey Ortiz, after playing in only two of six possible games from June 26 to Tuesday, was placed on the 10-day injured list Wednesday because of neck inflammation.

The Brewers also placed right-hander Enoli Paredes on the 15-day IL because of right forearm tendinitis.

In corresponding moves, Milwaukee recalled infielder Vinny Capra and right-hander Janson Junk from Triple-A Nashville.

Ortiz, 26 on July 14, was on a day-to-day playing status and made just one start in that period because of his stiff neck and last played Monday. The move to the IL was retroactive to Tuesday.

He is batting .269 with 13 doubles, seven home runs and 28 RBIs in 74 games for Milwaukee. He made his major league debut in 2023 with Baltimore, when he was 7-for-33 (.212) in 15 games. He was traded to the Brewers after the season.

Paredes, 28, is 1-0 with a 1.08 ERA, one save, eight walks and 12 strikeouts in 16 2/3 innings over 14 appearances.

Capra, turning 28 on Sunday, would be making his Brewers debut. He appeared in a total of 17 games for the Toronto Blue Jays (2022) and Pittsburgh Pirates (2023) and was 4-for-23 (.174).

Junk, 28, is 0-0 with a 9.00 ERA, one walk and three strikeouts in five innings over three appearances this season with Milwaukee.
