The Milwaukee Brewers named Ozzie Timmons and Connor Dawson their new hitting coaches Thursday.
The team also plans to hire an assistant hitting coach, too.
Timmons and Dawson replace Andy Haines, who was fired last month after three seasons. Assistant Jacob Cruz was also told to pursue other opportunities.
Timmons, 51, comes over from Tampa Bay, where he spent the past four seasons as the first base coach and part-time assistant hitting coach. He was promoted to full-time assistant hitting coach last month. Timmons was born in Tampa, played high school and college ball there, and played his fifth and final season of Major League ball with the then-Devil Rays.
Dawson, 28, gets his first job on a major league staff. Most recently, he was minor league hitting coordinator for the Seattle Mariners.
Timmons was a .235 hitter with 20 home runs in 186 major league games with five teams, including the Chicago Cubs (1995-96). He had a career .730 OPS as an outfielder. He hit .341 in 12 games with the Devils Rays in 2000.
