The Atlanta Braves traded right-handed pitcher Jake Odorizzi to the Texas Rangers on Wednesday in exchange for left-handed pitcher Kolby Allard.

The Rangers also received cash considerations in the swap.

The Braves acquired Odorizzi at the August trade deadline from the Houston Astros in exchange for left-handed reliever Will Smith, who had his option declined by the Astros on Wednesday.

In 10 starts with the Braves, Odorizzi was 2-3 with a 5.24 ERA over 46 1/3 innings. He was a combined 6-6 with a 4.40 ERA over 22 starts for the Astros and Braves. Over 11 seasons for five different teams he is 74-69 in 241 appearances (237 starts) with a 3.99 ERA.

Atlanta general manager Alex Anthopoulos previously traded Allard at the 2019 trade deadline to the Rangers in exchange for Chris Martin, who helped the Braves win a World Series title in 2021.

Allard was a first-round selection by the Braves (14th overall) in 2015.

Allard was 1-2 with a 7.29 ERA in 10 appearances for the Rangers in 2022 and was 8-22 with a 5.85 ERA in 62 appearances over four seasons with Texas. In 2018 with the Braves, he had a 12.38 ERA in three appearances (one start).
