The Atlanta Braves placed left-hander Max Fried on the seven-day concussion injured list Thursday.

The designation is retroactive to Monday for the 28-year-old All-Star.

Fried last pitched on Saturday, when he slipped and fell face-first on the grass while trying to make a play in the third inning of Atlanta’s 6-2 loss to the New York Mets. He remained on the ground for a couple of minutes but returned to the game.

Fried is 10-4 with a 2.60 ERA through 22 starts. He has struck out 127 batters and walked 25 in 138 1/3 innings.

The Braves recalled right-hander Jay Jackson from Triple-A Gwinnett in a corresponding transaction.

Jackson, 34, is 1-0 with a 2.13 ERA in 12 relief appearances this season at Gwinnett. He last pitched in the majors with the San Francisco Giants in 2021.
