Recently retired outfielder Kevin Kiermaier has joined the Toronto Blue Jays organization as a special assistant.

Kiermaier was a four-time Gold Glover and considered one of the top defensive center fielders of this century. He routinely made stellar plays in the outfield during 11-plus seasons that ended with the completion of the 2024 campaign.

Not surprisingly, the 34-year-old Kiermaier will work with outfielders throughout the Blue Jays’ organization.

“I’d always make a joke with the guys about being a special assistant,” Kiermaier told MLB.com. “I’d say, ‘You guys are going to miss me, but I’ll be a special assistant one day and you’ll love having me around.’ It’s funny how it came to fruition. I am just thrilled. This is the dream job of a lifetime. I cannot wait.”

Kiermaier batted .246 with 95 homers, 132 steals, 60 triples and 378 RBIs in 1,159 games with the Tampa Bay Rays (2013-22), Blue Jays (2023-24) and Los Angeles Dodgers (2024). His highest batting average was .276 in 2017.
