The Oakland Athletics placed right-hander Lucas Erceg on the 15-day injured list on Friday due to a strained right forearm.

The move is retroactive to Sunday. Erceg last pitched on May 25, throwing a perfect inning of relief in the Athletics’ 3-1 home victory over the Houston Astros.

Oakland manager Mark Kotsay said Friday that the forearm strain is “mild” and Erceg could resume throwing “sooner than later” but there is no timetable for his return.

Erceg, 29, is 2-2 with two saves, a 2.86 ERA, eight walks and 27 strikeouts in 22 innings over 21 relief appearances this season. In parts of two seasons with the Athletics, he is 6-6 with a 4.21 ERA, 44 walks and 95 strikeouts in 77 innings over 71 relief appearances.

In other moves Friday, the Athletics recalled right-hander Dany Jimenez and left-hander Brady Basso from Triple-A Las Vegas, optioned right-hander Tyler Ferguson and sent third baseman Tyler Nevin outright to Las Vegas after Nevin was designated for assignment and cleared waivers.

Jimenez, 30, is 1-1 with a 3.68 ERA, 13 walks and 11 strikeouts in 14 2/3 innings in 15 relief appearances for Oakland this season.

Basso, 26, is rated Oakland’s No. 20 prospect by MLB Pipeline. He is a combined 2-2 with a 5.02 ERA, 11 walks and 46 strikeouts for the franchise’s Triple-A and Double-A affiliates this season.

Rookie Ferguson, 30, is 0-1 with a 4.50 ERA, seven walks and 10 strikeouts in 10 innings over nine relief appearances for Oakland.

Nevin, 27, batted .220 (27-for-123) with four home runs and 10 RBIs in 40 games this season for the A’s.
